その男は忍び込む。そして館長室に祀られるアルケミストの石に手を伸ばす。しかし悪行は阻まれ倒されてしまう。そこに、その男を嘲笑う天敵が現れる。男は荒れ、メートルの紙に怒りのままに文字をかきまくるが、おさまらず更なる騒ぎを起こしてしまう。騒ぎを鎮めようとする者はある提案を持ちかける。その提案とは……。

太宰治が志賀直哉を返品するためにアルケミストに忍び寄ります。
文豪たちが多くなった図書館には嗜好品がなくストレスがたまっていると武者小路実篤が持論を展開します。
そこで、ストレス発散のために日光に浴びながら農業をすることを提案します。
そして太宰治が志賀直哉に勝負を挑みます。
太宰治が勝ったら志賀直哉は芥川龍之介に近づかない、志賀直哉が勝ったら館長代理の猫が坊主にするという条件で始まりました。
結果、徳田と島崎組が勝ち、二人の決着はつきませんでした。

志賀直哉は優れた小説家で芥川龍之介の羅生門を読み、最後の一文に駄目出しの批判をします。
太宰治にとって芥川龍之介は尊敬している存在です。
そんな芥川龍之介のことを批判する志賀直哉のことが許せませんでした。
そのため太宰治は2度女性と心中しようとして、自分だけ生き残り、殺人だったのではないかと歌がれるエピソードを持っていましたので、そのネタを元に志賀直哉を海に誘い殺そうとします。
しかし、うまくあしらわれて作戦がバレてしまいます。

中原中也は太宰治たちに米を作らせて、自分の日本酒にしようと企てていました。
早朝に稲を刈ろうとしたらすでに刈られた後でした。
先に刈っていたのは坂口安吾で、100人前の美味しそうなカレーを作っていました。
ストレス発散のために日光をあびて農業をしましたが、特に効果はなかったようです。

徳田は影が薄いと、影が薄い島崎にいじられているのは面白かったです。
太宰治は志賀直哉を芥川龍之介から遠ざけたかったのですが、残念ながらかなえることができませんでした。
