千里のあとを受けて緊急登板した弥生が大尾打線を抑え込むものの、風林中の反撃も封じられ、地区大会決勝は大尾中３点リードのまま最終回に突入する。絶体絶命の７回表、風林中はツーアウトながら、一・三塁の最後のチャンス！トップバッターの千里は粘り強くフォアボールを選び、二死満塁と大尾中の道塁にプレッシャーを与える。そして、前の打席でショートゴロに封じられた２番の太鳳へと打順がまわる。

睦子の懸命な活躍による出塁、そして千里が粘りを見せてフォアボールでの出塁。
3点を許したままの風林中ですが、大きな勝負の場面で太鳳に打順が回ってきます。

彼女が観客席を見上げると、試合を見に来ていた大吾の父・吾郎の姿がありました。
道塁の野球のルーツは吾郎にあり、彼女は今まで隠していたオーバースローを解禁しストレートを投げ込みます。
サイドスローとは段違いの球威を誇りますが、大吾も負ける気はなく粘り強いバッティングを見せつけます。
人は違えど、2人は背負った思いを胸に勝負するのでした。

不調の様子を見かねて、太鳳はリトルの時のように投げられなくなってしまうと心配して声をかけますが、弥生は引く様子はありません。
医者からもオッケーが出ていると言い、ここまで来たら勝つしかないという弥生の言葉を信じてピッチャーを続投。
